OUR MISSION

Why did we design a budget making tool for adolescents?

As a team, we realized that young adults do not have the financial literacy skills they need as they transition into adulthood. This leads to poor budgeting skills, financial instability, and even excessive debt. The gap in financial literacy skills occurs in a childhood where foundational knowledge such as savings, budgeting, and accountability are learned. The aim of our website is to combat this issue at its root and educate teens and pre-teens on money management.

Education comes from experience. While financial literacy can be taught in a classroom setting, it is just as important to practice smart financial practices with real-world implications. Our platform provides users with the tools to create a budget and make smart financial decisions. Users will not only be provided with financial tools, but they will also be given the opportunity to learn what different financial terms mean. Differentiating between complex terms is important when educating teens and pre-teens on financial literacy sets a strong foundation as they transition into adulthood.

OUR SERVICES

We provide users with an interactive budgeting tool that is personalized to their specific needs based on their allowance or another source of income. By tracking their earnings, users can learn how to effectively save up for larger purchases. Users can define larger purchases through a Wishlist tool that can be altered at any time.

EXPERIENCE

So, who are we? We are students at the University of Pittsburgh participating in the 2025 She Innovates Hackathon. We chose to focus on financial wellness due to our personal interests on expanding our own financial literacy knowledge. All of us wish we had a tool like this to use in our childhood.
